small habits that stick...[SIE💡]

Published about 1 year ago • 2 min read

Week 4 of my April Sabbatical is happening now!

If you’re new here, thank you for being part of my world.

We’re on a mini-break from opening thoughts while I’m OOO this month, but you can find the rest of your weekly goodies below.

Have a good week my friends. 😘

TIPS TO WORK BETTER

1. If you've been in the online business space for awhile, you know the power of leveraging your peers audiences to grow your own audience. This can look like joint webinars, summits, newsletter mentions, etc. ConvertKit is creating a newsletter partnership program call the Creator Network to help you get that exposure. 2. I resisted the move from ClickUp to Notion for more than a year. Once I have a system that works, I want to not break it. But I decided to give Notion a try as my all-in-one solution for: project management, back-of-house admin, client management, content marketing, and the endless stream of ideas that pop into my head. I'm more and more happy with that decision. Plus it's free (huge bonus for me). Try Notion here.

3. One of the easy tools I use to focus on a single type of task at a time is using the Chrome extension Tab Group. You can set up a group of tabs to pop up for particular workflows. For example, I have a tab group for client reporting, Friday finances, newsletter creation, etc. Check it out.

TIPS TO LIVE WELL

1. A year or so ago, I commited to the simple habit of making my bed in the morning. I had been feeling scattered and reactive in the morning, and I wanted to start my day with an accomplished task that made me feel good when I walk by it throughout the day. Lo and behold, it's now something I do without even thinking about it (that's how habit building is supposed to work right?). And while the conscious efforting has faded into the background of subconscious routine, the pleasure I get from crawling into a made bed every night has not. Here's a quick YouTube video on how to make your bed (easy, no frills). Watch here.

2. Here's a spring cleaning tip - organizing is NOT the same as decluttering. I find Joshua Becker's perspectives and advice on this to be wonderful and inspiring: Watch here.

3. Have you ever found yourself with spare time in between your to-do's? How often do you scroll that time away? Try something different: take a power nap with this audio, stretch your body, or just meditate. Watch/Listen here.

Catch you next time Reader, - love ya,

Cara

Several weeks ago I had to opportunity to connect with a fellow Sunday newsletter writer - Irena Spegar of The Boonly. I don’t recall exactly how I found her, but when I subscribed to The Boonly and got my first issue in my Inbox, I knew we were kindred spirits. Sundays for me are about reflecting, intentional and slow living, basking in nourishing routines, and resetting my mind and body for the week ahead. And when I started reading Irena’s newsletter, I knew she felt the same. The Boonly...

I realized last week that I missed sending Mother's Day wishes in last week's SIE and I didn't say a word about turning 43 last Wednesday. Being a mother is the entire reason I've been able to hone my productivity skills, get more done in less time, and have an entirely different perspective on success and priorities. But the last several years, online marketing and social media has started tip-toeing around Mother's Day in fear of not recognizing or just dismissing others' feelings. I get...

I spoke at a local event last Wednesday about my life story. It was an interview format, and my interviewer guided me through a bit about my childhood, my first career as a Special Agent, then creating a job as the social media manager with Megadeth, and my entrepreneurial journey. One of the threads was how as an adult I constantly found myself questioning the status quo. Do I actually need to jump through this hoop? Do I need to stay in a job with great benefits and gravitas that is taking...
